For Law Enforcement
SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAM
Ft. Worth F2 Tornado 28 March 2000.
Search is an Emergency!
A child is missing. An Alzheimer's victim has walked away, maybe they drove away and now you have found their car - abandoned. What now?
Searching for a lost or missing person is very resource intensive. Who do you call for help? Other police agencies, the fire department, the group you heard about that claims to be a search and rescue team?
All may be viable options, but do you want to stake your reputation, maybe your job, the life of the victim, on an unknown or un-trained resource? In our litigious society today with attorneys making charges of "Failure to respond in a timely manner" or "Failure to respond in a proper manner", you must be sure of the resources you use.
Because our founder has a background in law enforcement, he went to several county and city agencies to find out exactly what they wanted in a private sector search and rescue team. Soon after, First Response Search and Rescue Team, Inc. was born in 1994 to meet the needs of law enforcement.
A non-profit corporation that works for YOU and NEVER charges the victim, family, or agency involved for our search and rescue services.
A search situation for a lost or missing person can be a very resource and time intensive incident that few agencies are ready to undertake. Many have never preplanned for the incident or the plan is sitting in some dusty notebook, in somebody's office, with outdated resources. First Response can help you with the preplanning for the lost, missing, or abduction situation. We can also help by being a part of your response and management of the search incident with proven resources and tactics.
First Response is a self contained resource that has trained and nationally certified field searchers, search canines and search managers. Our field searchers are uniformed, background checked and are equipped to be self reliant in the field for 24 hours. We also have our own radio communications system, so we don't need your radio assistance, you and your dispatchers will have enough to do without us adding to the workload. Our members come from all walks of life and volunteer their time and talents to assist you with your departments specific needs. If needed, with one phone call, we can expand our ground search, air search, and communications capabilities at NO COST to the victim, family, or your agency .
With First Response, your search incident is YOUR incident. Your retain complete control of the incident. Our search managers are trained in the latest search tactics and are fully NIMS compliant. They fully understand the basic concept, that a missing person search is a police matter. We provide as much or as little help as you request. Our search managers are available 24/7 to consult before the search or manage the entire search, then report directly to you - the Incident Commander, as needed.
First Response Search and Rescue managed the entire initial volunteer
search response for the Ft. Worth Fire Department and Office of
Emergency Management when the F3 tornado hit the downtown Ft. Worth
area on March 28, 2000. First Response had preplanned with the Office
of Emergency Management for just such an event, allowing initial
operations to run smoothly until FEMA arrived to assist the next day.
We can do the same for you, at no charge.
As you might expect, being around for over 20 years, we have worked a few searches. The specifics of these searches, the agency, the family or victim are not discussed on our website because we believe in the privacy of the victim and the security of your investigation. First Response will never release ANY specifics of your incident. That responsibility is yours alone. We treat all information confidential along the same HIPPA guidelines found in the EMS or medical professions. In addition, our members are trained in crime scene preservation and evidentiary procedures. The last thing we want is to violate the victims privacy, your trust, or your case.
"We are here to help, not be just another problem to deal with."
We never self deploy, unless that is part of a prearranged element of your specific preplan. You should follow initial response procedures to help insure a successful search and contact us as soon as possible with a "heads-up" standby or request for response. Search is an emergency and time is critical in these matters.
Our 24/7 emergency response number is toll free 844-673-2724 or 844-6-SEARCH.
That's a thumbnail sketch of who we are and what we can do for your agency. If you like what you see and want to add us to your response preplan or want to learn more about us or how we can help your agency, call our non-emergency number to contact our Executive Director at 903-578-4911 or leave us a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
